Public prosecutor caught taking bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday caught Public Prosecutor of Koppal district court Nagaraj Achar while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The ACB team, led by SP Prasannakumar and DySP Arun Kumar, raided the residence of Nagaraj at Amaravathi near here on Tuesday night and trapped the law officer, along with the bribe money.

In 2015, a woman named Chandini had died due to dowry harassment. A case in this regard was registered in Koppal Town police station. The police had arrested Chandini’s husband and the local court was hearing the matter.

The public prosecutor had sought a bribe from the deceased woman’s brother Mehaboob Khan for ensuring justice in the case, said an ACB officer.
