Rain lashes Chikkamagaluru, Davangere

Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Chikkamagaluru and surrounding places for about two hours on Wednesday.

The first rain of the season arrived with gusto as it poured uninterrupted. Rain water gushed into low-lying areas while roads were waterlogged due to clogged stormwater drains. There were reports of heavy rain in the hill ranges of Bababudangiri.

However, coffee growers are worried about the rain as the coffee plants may flower prematurely due to the showers.

Channagiri taluk in Davangere district too received heavy rains for about one hour towards the evening. Power supply was disrupted in several areas as trees fell on electricity poles.
