JD(S) leader and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda will turn 85 on May 18 and a seminar on ‘State’s role in a federal system’ has been organised on that day in Bengaluru.
JD(S) MLA YSV Datta told reporters in Bengaluru on Sunday that Gowda will participate in the seminar, to be held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The seminar is being organised jointly by “Kannada Munotta Samsthe” and “IT Kannadigara Koota”. Datta said Gowda has instructed the party cadre that there should be no celebratory events on his birthday in the wake of severe drought in the state.
