Teacher eligibility test paper leaked in Dharwad?

Some candidates who appeared for Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) which was held across the State on February 3 (Sunday), have strongly suspected that the question paper was leaked in Dharwad.

Rumours doing rounds in the city that mobile phones were used as a medium to leak the question paper. To give a boost to this suspicion, candidates said that the key answers to the questions in the TET question paper were circulated to many students at Kalyan Nagar area here.

On Sunday, question papers were sold for Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 hours before the examination. Exam for Psychology, English, History and Kannada comprising a total 150 of marks was held in the afternoon session. The candidates alleged that a group of men displayed the question paper in their mobile handsets and have made huge moneym, they said.

Candidate Shanmukh from Amminbhavi in Dharwad taluk said the candidates who were ready to purchase the question paper and had paid money were taken to an isolated place. A chip was inserted into their mobile phones, which had a copy of the paper. Many candidates who saw the question papers have confirmed this, he added.

“We stayed in rented houses for months together to prepare for the exam and studied day and night to clear the TET. If the candidates purchase question papers and crack the exam, what will be our fate?” he questioned.

The department has to consider this issue seriously and trace the culprits. Moreover, the government should cancel the exams held on February 3 and reconduct it, he said.

Denying the charges, DDPI R S Mullur said the TET question papers were not leaked here and no complaints were received. On February 3, in morning session, 3,572 candidates had registered, of which 3,237 appeared. For the afternoon session, 8,728 candidates had applied and among them, 8.147 appeared, he added.
