Mandya MP Sumalatha on Wednesday urged the government to provide a new building for Kendriya Vidyalaya at Mandya.
"Kendra Vidyalaya at Mandya is functioning in an old hospital building. Since the building is dilapidated, its roof was leaking during the rainy season. The government should take steps to construct a new building to accommodate schools," she said in Lok Sabha during Zero Hour.
With more than 400 students studying in the school, the government must take steps to provide better facilities, she urged.
During the discussion on Railway Ministry issues, she demanded to construct a new railway line between Hejjala and Chamarajnagar.
The railway line was a long-standing demand of this region. Even though the project was announced more than two years ago, it was not started. Since BJP is in power both at the Centre and state, the government should take up initiatives to start the project, he said.
