The Karnataka High Court directed to the state government to publish the notification for reservations to the posts of the president/ vice president of municipalities and municipal councils, and mayor/ deputy mayor on or before August 28.
A division bench, headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, was hearing a petition filed by the State Election Commission seeking directions to the state government to publish notification regarding urban local bodies elections.
The Election Commission had moved the court seeking directions to the state to issue final notifications for delimitation of wards to 18 ULBs and reservation of seats of 215 ULBs. The court adjourned the hearing of case to August 28.
