We are not here for social service: Union minister

Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde, who has an uncanny knack for courting controversy with his foot-in-mouth remarks, was at it again on Thursday, saying, “We (politicians) are here to do politics, not social service.”

Addressing the BJP workers’ meet here, Hegde said, “We are in public life to indulge in politics, not social service. We know nothing but politics. Defending his remarks, Hegde said, “It is left to the understanding of media persons. They are free to interpret it their way.”
