'Time is ripe to build Ram temple'

Last Updated 25 November 2018, 18:25 IST

“Time is now ripe to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. If the temple for Ram, who is an icon of Hindu religion, is not built it will be an insult to the entire nation. The government should convene a joint session of Parliament and table a bill to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” said Pejawar Mutt Pontiff Vishwesha Teertha Swami.

He was speaking at the Janagraha convention, organised jointly by Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal, at Nehru Maidan on Sunday.

“We have waited for four-and-a-half-years of this BJP-led government and we can not wait for long. The Dharma Sansad held in Udupi last had passed a resolution, urging the Central government to build Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. There is no compromise on Ram Mandir. The prime minister should make a decision and should promulgate an ordinance to build the temple.”

He, meanwhile, said that if the Congress opposed the ordinance, it would have to face consequences in terms of election results. The Hindu community has now risen across the Nation for the cause of Ram Mandir.

The seer said that a delegation of seers would meet the prime minister and would convince him on the need to build Ram Mandir.

“If the government fails to make a decision by next Kumbh Mela to be held in February, the conclave of seers will discuss further strategies to carry the Ram Mandir movement forward,” the seer said.

“Also, the members of Parliament from BJP should be ready to tender their resignations to achieve the mission, if need arises.”

Clarifying that demand for the Ram Mandir has nothing to do with elections, he said that the demand was not made on political basis but on National basis.

He, meanwhile, called upon the Muslim community to support the construction of Ram Mandir thereby paving a way for the new era of Hindu-Muslim harmony.

Delivering the keynote address, Bajrang Dal National Convener Sohan Singh Solanki said that the Central government should understand that Hindus have waited enough for Ram Mandir.

The central government should table a bill in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament to build the Ram Mandir. “Ache Din will come only when Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya.”

India is not indebted to Akbar, Aurangzeb or Babur but to Chatrapathi Shivaji and Maharana Pratap. But, ‘Babri mentality’ is still prevalent in India today and there is a need to do away with this mentality, by building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The ‘Award Vapsi Gang’ which supports terrorists has no right to speak on Hindu tradition.

“If Hindus were terrorists, there would have been no other religions in the world,” he said.

It is unfortunate that the state government is celebrating the Jayanti of a ruler like Tipu Sultan who had vandalised Hindu temples. The state government should observe Sri Krishnadevaraya’s Jayanti instead, he added.

The Hindu activists took out a rally from Dr B R Ambedkar Circle till Nehru Maidan, prior to the programme. The formal programme began with Gau puja.

A memorandum was submitted to Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on the occasion.

Odiyuru Mutt seer Gurudevananda Swami, Gurpur Vajradehi Mutt seer Rajashekharananda Swami, Adichunchanagiri Mutt seer Dharmapalanatha Swami, Balekodi Mutt seer Shashikanthamani Swami, VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders M B Puranik, Jagadish Shenava, Shivananda Mendon, Bhujanga Kulal, Sharan Pumpwell and Pravin Kuttar were present among others.
