Varsity-level cultural competitions

Mangalore University will organise an intercollegiate cultural competition for the students studying in its affiliated and constituent colleges, from August 13 to 31.

Mangalore University Directorate of Students Welfare Director Prof Barkur Uday said on Saturday that the competitions will be held in five categories - literary, fine arts, music, theatre and dance.

The competitions will be hosted by B B Hegde College, Kundapura (literary events,. August 24), Dr P Dayananda Pai and Sri Sathish Pai Government First Grade College (fine arts, August 13), Besant Women’s College (music, August 16 and 17), Poornaprajna College, Udupi (theatre on August 30,31), and St Philomena College, Puttur (August 20 and 21).

The winners in the intercollegiate competitions will be sent to South Zone Yuvajanotsava to be held at October-November. The winners in South Zone Yuvajanotsava will be sent to the national-level cultural programmes. The university will also organise a workshop by the experts to train the winners in the inter-collegiate competitions, Prof Barkur Uday said.
