Marijuana hidden in Burrito order, Uber Eats driver finds

A recent incident came to light from New Jersey, where an Uber Eats driver discovered to her surprise that she was carrying marijuana instead of the food order that she was supposed to deliver, New York Post reported.

The publication quoting the police said that the driver was initially under the idea that she was delivering a burrito, however, upon getting a very strong smell, she found out that it was marijuana wrapped in aluminium foil that resembled a burrito.

The Washington Township Police explaining the timeline of events said that the driver was delivering the order to a location in Lindenwold, Camden County, consisting of a burrito wrapped in a tin foil along with a water bottle and soup.

As she was driving, she did not get the correct smell from the food and figured that something was wrong with it.

The publication citing local media reports stated that the Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik said, “She believed something didn’t smell right with her delivery package. She thought it smelled like marijuana.”

This is when she happened to call the cops and inform them about the entire situation

Police Chief Gurcsik further said that an officer upon reaching the spot inspected the package to finally confirm that it was not a burrito meal but an ounce of marijuana.

Police shared the image of the same on their social media handle wherein one can see the burrito shaped tin foil which actually had huge quantity of marijuana put inside a zip-lock bag.

As per Uber policies, they do not permit the delivery of medication, alcohol and other illegal substances.

An Uber spokesperson said that this incident was “deeply disturbing” and he also requested the drivers to get in touch with the local authorities in case they smell or see something suspicious

As of now, no charges have been filed in regard to this case.
