Yeddyurappa will be CM after Ganesh fest: MLC

Last Updated 05 September 2018, 11:39 IST

MLC Pradeep Shettar, the younger brother of former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, predicted that State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa would become the chief minister after Ganesh Chaturthi.

"We won't make any efforts to topple the JD(S)-Congress coalition government. It will collapse on its own; due to infighting. Then, Yeddyurappa will be the chief minister," he claimed.

Shettar, who received death threats in March of this year, spoke to reporters in Hubballi on Wednesday. He said that the BJP would come back to power in Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) in March next year. "The BJP government will be ruling the state then. The development of the twin cities and North Karnataka will get a boost," he noted. He termed the H D Kumaraswamy-led government as 'anti-Karnataka'.

Protest on Sept. 6

BJP MLCs led by Kota Shrinivas Pujari will stage a protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha, in Bengaluru, on September 6, at 11 a.m.

Among others, they will demand tabling of the Anwar Manippady report on encroachment of Wakf properties, and a CBI probe into the 'Wakf property scam'.

"This is a 2.30 lakh crore scam involving 27,000 acres of Wakf property. Congress leaders are involved in it. Minority Welfare & Wakfs Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan had, on the floor of the house, assured to order a probe, but failed to do so. The government is being controlled by the Congress," Pradeep Shettar alleged.
