ZP panel members visit hostels, residential schools

Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Social Justice president Hirigayya inspects the food grains at a hostel in Chikkamagaluru.

Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Social Justice president Hirigayya and other committee members paid a surprise visit to residential schools and hostels in Chikkamagaluru.

The members visited hostels in Chikkamagaluru, Kadur, Saraswathipura and Birur.

They inspected the drinking water facilities, food supplied to the students, and the condition of toilets in the hostel.

Committee member G B Somashekarappa said, “We had visited post matric boys hostel at Kanive in Chikkamagaluru and found poor water supply to the hostel. The warden has been warned to make necessary arrangement to set right the problem.”

At the post-matric hostel at Kadur, the toilets were in a pathetic condition and the warden has been asked to set it right.

The stock books were not maintained in order at a minority residential school at Birur. There were no benches for the children at the tribal residential school at Saraswathipura, added the committee member.
