They had not received any inputs or tip-offs regarding this cash transport, a police source said.

The duo claimed the bag to be their’s and told the police that the entire money was collected in parts from their customers in Hyderabad, who had paid them to get wedding cards printed in bulk.

However, there were no documents to support their claims, a senior police officer said.

The suspects told the police that they were travelling till Bengaluru and would take another bus to their native Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu.

The city police, who have set up random checkpoints at the entry and exit points in the city in view of the ensuing elections, conducted random checks on baggage in private buses and stumbled on the unaccounted cash. They have registered a case and are questioning the duo to ascertain the source of the money.
