Prioritise comfort this festive season

Ugadi is around the corner. It is celebrated in Southern India with much pomp and splendour. The occasion marks the lunar New Year for people of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and every woman wants to look traditional and stylish on this day.

As you will be shopping or new clothes, here are some tips and pointers for you to look your best on that day.

The Corset Blouse

The corset blouse is longer in length and can be beautifully teamed up with a sari. Corset blouses come in various styles, from crystal adorned to rich jacquard. Since corset blouses are longer, they are versatile and can be used with a sari or lehenga with a dupatta.

Dhoti pants

A dhoti pant drapes loosely only at the upper leg area and tapers gradually towards the hemline. They are made of soft fabrics to ensure better drape and greater comfort. It goes best with a festive tunic and embellished slippers or heels

Reinvent old saris

Convert your old Kanjeevaram or Benarasi into an anarkali or a beautiful lehnga, This will make your piece unique as it speaks of culture and heritage.

Wide-legged palazzos

Crop tops could be worn over ethnic palazzos and teamed with a pair of Kolhapuri chappals or designer juttis. Add on some chic jewellery to complete the signature look.

Silk cropped jackets

Cropped Jackets are making a huge come back. Complete with a notch collar and lapel, these jackets can also hold the festive jacquard or embroidery. It can be used on a lehenga, or even on a traditional saree, to give it that slight edge over being too traditional.

Denim

For those who want to take it a bit further, you can opt for a denim sari with a lovely colourful shirt blouse. The colour of the blouse will offset the ruggedness of denim. Team this ensemble with lovely Mojras, and colourful hair beads and it’s a unique statement

Puffy sleeves

Billowy sleeves are the norm of the day and can be teamed up with a sari as well as a lehenga to give one that boho chic look. Accessorise with contemporary jewellery and beautiful sandals and you are good to go.

The choker

The best way to maximise the impact of this piece is to ditch large earrings. The versatility of this jewellery type allows you to wear it with almost any blouse or top whether deep necked or even high. If it’s a sari, a lehenga set or even a contemporary crop top, a statement choker is all you need for the festive season
