BBC Asian Network's 'Big Debate' show has come under fire on social media after a speaker in one of the episodes used abusive words against the mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A voice recording of the show was shared on Twitter, which has since gone viral. Making #BoycottBBC trend on Twitter, many have slammed the radio show host and the speaker for not taking it off the air.
The episode 'Do you feel proud seeing the turban being referred to as a crown in Eastenders?' was hosted by Priya Rai on BBC Sounds. It aired on Monday. Rai took several calls on the show and one of them used bad language towards PM Modi's mother.
The remarks were apparently related to the farmers' protests going on in India over the past three months.
Following the outrage, the programme has been edited to remove the controversial remark.
