Cong's Singhvi calls KCR clan 'Thugs of Telangana'

Calling upon people of Telangana to defeat caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the ensuing Assembly election, All India Congress Committee spokesman and MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Sunday dubbed the KCR clan “Thugs of Telangana,” who must be chased out of the state.

Addressing media at the TPCC headquarters, Singhvi said that KCR, his son K Taraka Rama Rao, daughter K Kavitha and nephew T Harish Rao have been robbing the four crore people of Telangana over the past four-and-a-half years. “These thugs have created a graveyard of broken promises, a legacy of breach of trust, a betrayal of emotions and a denial of all expectations,” he said. KCR is bound more by putra moh, putri moh and parivar moh (love for son, daughter and family) than Pradesh Moh (love for the state).

Calling KCR downright corrupt, Singhvi said that the clan must be booked under Sections 420 and 120 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and conspiracy if there is a people’s government in Telangana.

Whither promises

Recalling the sacrifices of more than 1,200 youths during the agitation for a separate state, he said KCR is enjoying at the cost of their sacrifice. “What happened to KCR’s electoral promise of providing Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to each of their families, besides free education, a government job and three acres of land,” he questioned.

He said the TRS government had no clue about the whereabouts of the family of one such martyr, MCA student K Venugopal Reddy, who immolated himself on April 26, 2010, in full public view. “Thousands, including TRS leaders, attended the funeral. Now, the TRS government says it cannot locate his family for giving compensation,” he noted.

Singhvi said Telangana ranked No 2 in the entire country in terms of corruption. TRS leaders received bribes by redesigning projects and schemes like tractor distribution. “The so-called transparency KCR is talking about is just a myth. TRS government had concealed nearly 30,000 government orders from public domain and rejected all the applications filed under Right to Information Act to know about these government orders,” he alleged.
