<p>Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohaniya conducted a raid on illegal water bottling plant late on Tuesday. The area is already reeling under severe water crisis and Mohaniya accused police for not checking water theft properly.<br /><br /></p>.<p>On Tuesday, Mohaniya received a complaint by some of the residents of his area about an illegal water bottling plant in Sangam Vihar which is drawing water from Delhi Jal Board’s tube-well.<br /><br />“Following the complaints, I went to the spot and saw some people stealing water from DJB’s tube-well to fill the 20-litre bottles. I immediately contacted police and got the premises sealed,” Mohaniya told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />The DJB officials admitted that the water bottling plant was running illegally and they have sealed the premises.<br /><br />“The premises have been sealed and we have initiated further investigation in this matter,” said a DJB official of the area.<br /><br />He accused the DJB and police for not checking water theft in the area which is leading to severe water crisis.<br /><br />“There is no piped water supply in Sangam Vihar. The water mafias are active and they occupy many tube-wells to filter the water and pack them in 20-litre bottles to sell it. The action of police is very dissatisfactory,” he added.<br /><br />He said after his rigorous efforts, the situation has ‘slightly’ changed in the area.<br />The entire Sangam Vihar Assembly segment has a majority of unauthorised colonies where DJB has failed to supply piped water.</p>
