Delhi Police constable charged with raping relative

Last Updated 27 February 2015, 02:10 IST

A relative of a Delhi Police head constable has accused him of allegedly raping her several times in the past few months. A complaint against the head constable was filed with Alipur police station on Wednesday evening.

Devi Singh is currently posted with the disaster unit of the outer Delhi police in Rohini. “An FIR has been registered, but Singh is absconding,” said a police officer.

Police said the woman in her 30s approached officials at Alipur police station at around 10 pm and alleged that she was raped by her relative who is a head constable in Delhi Police.

“Both of them used to visit each other’s house frequently, as they lived in the same block of Khampur village near Narela,” the officer added.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Singh raped her on several occasions on the pretext of marriage. The head constable had been threatening her with dire consequences if she told anybody about his acts, the officer said.

On Wednesday, Singh again went to her house and tried to rape her. She took her family members in confidence and told them about Singh’s conduct.

Her family members took her to the police station and got a complaint registered.
