Sibal dares Vardhan to resign as MLA, then contest for Parliament

Union Law Minister and Congress candidate from Chandni Chowk, Kapil Sibal on Saturday accused BJP’s candidate Harsh Vardhan of being greedy of power.

During his election campaign in the constituency, he dared Harsh Vardhan to resign from Delhi Assembly before contesting election to Lok Sabha.

“Why is Harsh Vardhan not resigning from the post of MLA? Why does he want to be in state politics and in national politics at the same time? I think he is afraid of losing both parliamentary and assembly seats,” he said.

He also countered claims of BJP leaders that no development work has been carried out in his constituency.

“I have not left any stone unturned for development of Chandni Chowk constituency. I have also prepared a report card of the achievements. In this report card, I have put all the details of the 10 Assembly segments in my constituency. People who are raising questions, especially Harsh Vardhan, should read my report card before saying any thing against me,” he said.

Sibal accused BJP for playing communal card in every election.

“The BJP leaders call us communal but why do they always forget that they are conveying the communal ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The Ram Mandir issue is being played by the leaders in every election. It seems like it is the oxygen for the party,” he said.

He accused BJP of betraying its allies just for anointing Narendra Modi as party’s PM candidate. “The party has sidelined its decade-old allies just to make Modi their prime ministerial candidate. What can we expect from them?” he said.
