Ex-Samsung India head Manu Sharma joins Carl Pei's Nothing

Last month, Carl Pei, co-founder and former CEO of OnePlus, announced his new venture Nothing Technologies Ltd, with a primary focus on the Internet of Things (IoT) and audio products.

Since then, Pei's new company has been on a roll making several announcements including the acquisition of Essential Products (founded by Android founder, Andy Rubin).

Earlier this week, it revealed Stockholm-based Teenage Engineering as the founding partner of the company. It is renowned for the unique craftsmanship and industrial design prowess in developing consumer electronics products and accessories.

Now, Nothing has revealed that Manu Sharma, former Samsung India has been appointed as vice president and general manager of the company's India operation.

“I am thrilled to welcome Manu as part of the growing Nothing team. He is an experienced business leader with deep knowledge and understanding of the consumer technology industry in India. With his proven track record and experience, he will play a pivotal role in our growth in India. ” said Carl Pei, CEO, and co-founder, Nothing.

With the announcement, it looks like Nothing sees India as a major global market. It can be noted that Carl Pei is credited for establishing a pretty solid base for OnePlus in India. His last project OnePlus Nord continues to be the best selling model in the sub-Rs 30,000 in the sub-continent. Prior to the launch, Pei traveled to several cities and towns to understand the consumer's mindset on how and what criteria they look for in a phone before making the purchase.

Now, Pei is looking to create similar brand awareness among prospective customers for Nothing's upcoming products in India.
