A 33-year-old man was killed and his two friends suffered serious injuries after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a railway level crossing on Hare Krishna Road, off Seshadripuram, in the early hours of Monday.
The dead was identified as Srinivas, the driver and owner of the car. The injured are Anand, 24, a native of Tamil Nadu and Virupaksha, 32, a resident of Mandya.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 1.30 am. Srinivas, who was driving the Maruti Swift lost control over the vehicle and hit the pole of the level crossing. Passersby informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the three to the Mallige Hospital. Srinivas died on the way to the hospital. The police registered a case.
