Baby stillborn, family alleges medical negligence

Family members of a woman have lodged a complaint of negligence against doctors at the State-run Vani Vilas Hospitals following the birth of a stillborn.

Relatives of Yasmeen, 25, a resident of JJ Nagar, have filed a complaint against the doctors at the Chamarajpet police station and refused to take the baby’s body from the hospital.

The family claimed that delay in doctors attending to the pregnant woman led to the death of the child. They said Yasmeen was scheduled to undergo a cesarean section at 5 am on Thursday. However, she was operated upon only late in the day. “We suspect medical negligence to be the cause for the baby’s death. Only if an inquiry is ordered into the incident, the body would be claimed,” said a family member.

According to a hospital source, the patient had hypertension and other medical issues due to which normal delivery procedure could not be done.
