BBMP contractor’s office ransacked

Last Updated 19 May 2019, 19:50 IST

The aide of a local politician and his gang ransacked the Church Street office of a BBMP contractor, who refused to pay ‘protection money’ to execute road work at Shivajinagar.

In his complaint, Ganesh C S, accountant of contractor Hardik Gowda, said the accused beat him up and snatched away three bank cheques that Gowda had signed for emergency payments.

He said Gowda had taken the road contract at Shivajinagar constituency and Sameer Sait and his men had demanded money to allow him to continue the work. Though Gowda had paid them, they asked for more.

Around 1.45 pm on May 16, Sait and his associates barged into Gowda’s office, quarreled, abused and assaulted the contractor. They snatched the three cheques that Gowda had signed earlier.

Sait ransacked the office to create a sense of fear in the contractor.

The Cubbon Park police have filed an FIR against Sait, charging him under Section 394 (robbery), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Efforts are on to trace Sait and his associates.
