Bellandur apartments demand Cauvery water supply

Last Updated 03 February 2019, 19:47 IST

As many as 200 apartments in Bellandur are devoid of BWSSB’s Cauvery water supply, while a few are already in the process of receiving the supply.

Bangalore Apartments Federation (BAF), that has over 350 apartment associations as members, registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960, and Bellandur Development Forum (BDF) which is a network of resident welfare associations and active residents of Bellandur, have come together and are closely working with the BWSSB to help facilitate the supply of Cauvery water to Bellandur.

“Around 200 apartments with 20,000 households and 50,000 people are interested in getting the water connection. But we are facing a few bottlenecks. We need the support of BWSSB to ease the process,” said a BDF member.

They have written a letter to the BWSSB chairman listing out issues and suggestions to be addressed in Bellandur area. That includes relaxation of occupancy certificates that was made compulsory for apartments with 20 households and more, enabling the online application process with BWSSB’s officials still insisting on the physical application form, use of Sakala app so that there will be transparency and efficiency in the whole process and many other suggestions.

However, the BWSSB chairman has agreed to fulfil only a few suggestions by the residents.

“The BWSSB chairman has promised to help in relaxing occupancy certificates (OC) and enabling all connection requests and complaints via Sakala. We will follow-up again next week and in the weeks ahead. The BWSSB might decide on OC relaxation by February 12,” said Vishnu Prasad, another BDF member.
