Cops arrest thief who sold cameras on OLX

The city police arrested a 27-year-old man who stole several cameras from photo studios in the city as well as the neighbouring Tumakuru. The police seized around 12 cameras worth Rs 15 lakh from Sheik Lukman, a resident of Vidyaranyapura.

Lukman befriended studio owners and promised them orders for marriages and other events. Later, he would call them to a nearby cafe or hotel to discuss the assignments. While the studio owners step out without closing the shops, Lukman and associates would get into the studios and decamp with cameras and expensive lenses. The accused would then post the cameras’ pictures on OLX and sell them. A few studio owners and photographers recognised their cameras on the online portal.

Later, posing as customers, the police arrested Lukman.
