Countdown begins for counting

The fate of 2,564 candidates who contested the May 12 Assembly elections will be decided on Tuesday.

As many as 3.64 crore voters exercised their franchise, which has now been stored in electronic voting machines (EVMs).

According to election officials, the counting process will start at 8 am and the initial trends will be available by 10 am.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), as per the direction of the Election Commission, has taken over the responsibility of securing the strong rooms where the EVMs have been stored.

According to chief electoral officer Sanjiv Kumar, a total of 11,160 polling personnel will be involved in the counting process.

As many as 100 personnel will be involved in the counting of votes per constituency.

Kumar said repolling in two booths is Kushtagi in Koppal district and one polling booth in Lottegollahalli in Hebbal Assembly constituency will be held on Monday between 7 am and 6 pm. Repolling was ordered in these polling booths due to faulty EVMs.
