JOIN USAn executive engineer of the BBMP was reportedly assaulted by unidentified assailants and a complaint has been registered with the Vijayanagar police.
S Manohar, EE, BBMP, has stated in his complaint that eight men had come to his office on April 11 afternoon when he was busy with election duty. They assaulted, abused and dragged him around the office. When he sought their identity, they said they were from Andhra Pradesh police and demanded Rs 10 lakh from him.
Manohar stated in the complaint said that he had taken a loan from a person and had given him a cheque and a bond as surety. However, even after returning the loan amount, the person had registered a cheque bounce case against Manohar which was pending before a court.
Manohar suspects that he may have sent the rowdies to assault him.
The Vijayanagar police have registered an FIR and suspect that the attack was due to personal rivalry and are investigating the case.
