High court denies bail to man accused of killing wife’s lover

Last Updated 07 June 2018, 19:40 IST

The High Court of Karnataka has rejected the bail application filed by Rajesh Gowda, who is accused of shooting dead a lawyer from Nelamangala on the suspicion that he was having an affair with his wife.

The court stated that Gowda is not entitled to bail as he might tamper with evidence and threaten witnesses.

On January 13, 2017, Rajesh and his father Gopalakrishna had driven to Hesaraghatta near Acharya Group of Institutions in northern Bengaluru. They were tailing Rajesh’s wife, Shruthi Gowda. Both Rajesh and his father were appalled to find Shruthi sitting in her car with Amit Keshavamurthy, a 34-year-old lawyer. Rajesh is said to have shot Keshavamurthy dead before driving off.

Stunned, Shruthi drove a profusely bleeding Keshavamurthy to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. She then checked into a hotel and committed suicide by hanging. Police had arrested the father and the son a day after the crime.
