HC irked over delay in army veteran's kidney transplant

The High Court of Karnataka has asked the authorisation committee to urgently consider an army veteran’s application for kidney transplant.

Varsha Sharma, the donor, moved the court for direction to quash the communication to hold back the transplant and allow her to donate her kidney to Colonel Pankaj Bhargava.

Colonel Bhargava is a colonel in the armed forces at Pune and is a patient in Bengaluru’s Command Hospital.

The court expressed displeasure over the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare and chairman of the authorisation committee e not allowing transplantation to an officer who served the nation despite its directions.
