Those at home with friends and relatives were not the only ones jumping and screaming in the City that has been caputered by ‘the beautiful game’ in the last one month.

Sea of fans

With the quarterfinals and semis already seeing massive crowds, the Sports Authority of Karnataka and Bangalore District Football Association organised the screening of the finals at the Kanteerava stadium with one big LeD screen and two projector screens. And a sea of fans from both Spain and Holland dug-outs dotted the stadium.

Not only football lovers from Bangalore but also from different parts of the world had gathered here, making new friends, cheering for the game first and teams next.

Cheering for Holland were a big group from the country itself, while the Spain had also  its share of football followers hoping and praying that Iker Casilla’s men will take home what they believe is a title they deserve.

All for audience

Food counters, cheer leaders, bands and comperes, the organisers left no stone unturned in wooing the spectators. The spectators were not disappointed even as heavy rain poured down for more than just a brief while at the Kanteerava Stadium.

“Nodbody else deserves this title more us, we’ve been so persistant that we deserve it,”  Twan Custers and Ceciel Funnekotter from Holland said, adding “The best to never win the World Cup will be a thing of the past tonight...”

The organisers said that they had made prior arrangements for protection at the stadium anticipating rain and that it paid off.
