A 28-year-old car driver was abducted and assaulted by a group of three men including the son of a Kannada film producer and activist, allegedly for quitting his job over not receiving a hike in salary.

The victim, Harish, was admitted to KC General hospital and later filed a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police.

According to the police, Harish, a resident of Moodalapalya, worked as a driver for few years for Anup, son of a Sandalwood film producer and activist. Recently, Harish quit his job after he was denied a hike in salary and started to work as a cab driver.

Irked by Harish’s behaviour, Anup called him for a talk about his salary. When Harish reached near the hotel, where Anup had asked him to come in Basaveshwaranagar, he along with his two other associates Prabhakar and Sathya pulled Harish out of the car and took him to a nearby coffee shop in Sadashivanagar.

The trio then allegedly assaulted him making Harish unconscious. The trio then drove him to Moodalapalya and dumped him near his house before speeding away with his car. Harish alerted his family members who in turn admitted him to the hospital and filed a police complaint later.

The police have registered a case of extortion, assault, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation against the trio and efforts are on trace them.
