Last Updated 14 December 2012, 19:57 IST

From understanding the economics of sports to examining the economics of big-ticket events like the Olympics, an international expert will be in Bangalore next week to analyse it all.

Allen Sanderson, economist and senior lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago, will deliver a lecture on “The Economics of Sports and the University of Chicago,” in Bangalore on December 19.

The event, organised jointly by the University of Chicago Alumni Association and Chicago Alumni Clubs of Bangalore, will be held at Hotel Taj West End. Registration opens at 7 pm and the lecture will begin at 7.30 pm.

In his lecture, Sanderson will review the hits, runs, and errors of the economics of sports of the past decade, the past 50 years and where it is headed in the years ahead.

He will also examine the economics of mega events such as the Olympic Games, World Cup, Super Bowl and national political conventions.
