Last Updated 11 April 2019, 19:51 IST

City police are on the lookout for a man who purchased tickets for an IPL match in bulk and was selling it online for a higher price.

Based on a complaint filed by one Sujay B R, general manager, Ticketgenie Solutions Private Limited, the Cubbon Park police registered an FIR against Deepak Cool on Wednesday.

In his complaint to the police, Sujay stated that his company is an authorised online seller of IPL tickets, from where Deepak had purchased the tickets in bulk. Deepak bought the tickets priced at Rs 1,925 for the match scheduled on April 24 and offered to sell it for Rs 3,500.

‘Black’ ticket sales

Similarly, the tickets he purchased for a price of Rs 2,750 each were offered for Rs 3,800, the complaint stated. The ‘black’ ticket sales came to light when one of the company staff came across the advertisement posted by Deepak on social media platforms such as Whatsapp groups and Facebook accounts.

He had posted the advertisement with photographs of the tickets he had purchased from Ticketgenie Solutions Private Limited and were circulated widely with the new offer prices. This amounts to ‘black’ marketing and action should be taken against the accused, Sujay stated in his complaint.
