A minor problem with power supply cables at the Kempegowda metro station led to disruption in the services for about 20 minutes, around 3 pm, on Saturday.
A S Shankar, executive director, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), Operations and Maintenance, said power supply was suspended between 3.14 pm and 3.33 pm to fix a problem with a power cable.
“Train operations were halted during the period and resumed within 20 minutes,” he said. Commuters in the train, who spoke to staffers during the operations, said a cable was coming in contact with the third rail. “We were told that a temporary solution has been found and full rectification will be done during the night,” a commuter said.
During the half-an-hour of operations, trains were stopped at various stations for 10 to 15 minutes.
“Only trains running on a small stretch between the Trinity and Kempegowda metro stations on the Purple Line (Baiyappanahalli-Mysuru Road) were affected. The rest of the trains functioned normally,” a BMRCL official said.
