One killed, eight hurt as vehicle topples

A 28-year-old-man was killed and eight others were injured after a Tempo Traveller they were travelling in toppled at Gollahalli village near Nelamangala on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ravi Kumar S, a resident of Nagasandra near Peenya. The injured are Nandini, (18); Shanthi, (35); Latha, (30); Deekshith; Lakshmi, (4); Manoj Kumar, (14); Akkaiamma, (25); and Krithika, (10).

The police said the victims were returning to the city after attending a wedding at Madurai temple on Doddaballapur Road.

Narasimhamurthy was driving the vehicle in a reckless manner when he lost control over it near Gollahalli at around 12.30 am.

The villagers shifted the injured to Nelamangala government hospital. Ravi was declared brought dead and the condition of others is said to be stable.

Mamatha, the wife of Ravi, said he was a cash collector in a private finance company in Peenya.

She and her daughters Indu and Bindu were also supposed to attend the wedding. But as the vehicle was filled to the capacity, they stayed back.

All the injured are Ravi’s relatives and residents of Nagasandra and Peenya.

The Nelamangala rural police arrested Narasimhamurthy and are carrying out further investigation.
