Realtor shoots himself dead over financial loss

A 45-year-old realtor shot himself dead with his licensed revolver over the financial loss, in his house in Friends Layout, HAL, on Monday.

The deceased, Vijay Prakash Chaurasia was the managing director of VKC Developers Private Limited.

At around 1:30 pm, Chaurasia shot himself on his head at a close range in the bathroom when his son was sleeping. His wife had gone out shopping nearby, the police said.

Neighbours alerted the police who rushed to the spot and found him dead.

Based on a complaint filed by his wife, the police registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating further.

A probe found that he was depressed over financial losses and legal complications.

Chaurasia was in the news after he allegedly cheated a city-based software engineer Vandana Kukreja. He had reportedly had taken money from her but delayed handing over a flat to her.

In September, Vandana had approached the chief minister at a Janata Darshan and had complained about Chaurasia.

Kumaraswamy had directed the Whitefield police to look into the issue following which the police made Chaurasia register the flat in her name in 24 hours.

During the course of the investigation, it was found that Chaurasia had incurred a huge financial loss and had several civil disputes pending against him, the police said.
