'Reformed' youth assaulted

A five-member gang attacked a youth after he refused to accompany them to steal mobile phones in Ravindra Nagar near T Dasarahalli on Monday.

G Manikumar, 23, a resident of Mallasandra, filed a complaint thereafter at the Bagalagunte police station. Four years ago, Manikumar met Sanju, a mobile phone thief. He has been indulging in stealing mobile phones for the past two years.

However, lately, he decided to reform. He stopped speaking to Sanju and the gang. Pradeep, a gang member, even threatened to kill Manikumar.

Manikumar said in his complaint that on Monday, around 11.30 am, Pradeep took him near the Selection Corner Bakery in T Dasarahalli. Sanju came on a two-wheeler and tried to stab Manikumar with a knife.

Sanju along with four others chased him on two-wheelers and assaulted him with lethal weapons. They snatched his mobile before fleeing. Passersby noticed Manikumar in a pool of blood and rushed him to a hospital.
