Six killed in separate accidents

Six people were killed, and seven others were injured in three separate accidents on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

In a major accident involving an Omni and an Innova, four people were killed, and seven others were injured on the International Airport Road near Kannamangala Gate in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The men in the Omni were flower decorators who were on their way to Nandi Hills
to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Sunder (24), Venkatesh (25), Sathish (23) and Vikash (22) died on the spot.

The injured, Hemanth (24), Ajith (22), Avinash (22), Ravi (24), and Bharath (23)
were admitted to a private hospital.

A senior police officer said that all the four deceased were residents of RT Nagar. They were going to Nandi Hills to celebrate their friend, Avinash’s birthday carrying a cake, food and drinks along with them. When they were near the Kannamangala Gate, an Innova came from behind and hit the Omni killing the four on the spot.

Driver Madhu, who owns a hotel, and Manoj were in the Innova. They escaped with minor injuries as the Innova had airbags. Devanahalli traffic police registered a case, and are awaiting medical reports to check whether Madhu and Manoj were under the influence of alcohol.

Student killed

In yet another accident, a 19-year-old engineering student was killed near Basaveshwara College near Rajajinagar on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Mahendra, a resident of Rajajinagar III stage. He was a student of SVIT College of Engineering.

Rajajinagar traffic police suspect that a vehicle might have hit him, and he may have lost balance of his bike. Police are verifying the CCTV camera footage from the area.

Techie dies

A software engineer was killed in an accident on Singasandra flyover on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Vachaspathi working at a private IT firm.

He was returning home after work. When he was near the Singasandra flyover around 8.30 pm, he lost balance and fell. He was run over by an oncoming car.

The Hulimavu traffic police are investigating the case.
