Reflection Of Thoughts,’ a solo exhibition of 28 artworks, by self-taught artist Gurumahesh Srinivasan, is currently on at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath.

Srinivasan, who specialises in oil, acrylic, charcoal and mixed media, says his works are inspired by impressions and reflections of his experiences, and chronicle an artist’s emotional journey, culminating in hope.

Primarily a marketing professional, Srinivasan dabbles in art as pursuit of his passion, which he took to as a child and indulges in it over weekends.

The Dubai-based artist says it took him six months to complete the current curated exhibit which include abstract, modern and semi-abstract and contemporary explorations.

The dominant feature of Srinivasan’s works are his free play with bright pastels ranging from vibrant hues of blues, orange, green, yellow, besides black and white. An interesting highlight of his artistic work is his use of egg as a medium.

According to him, he mixes eggs with different varnishes to make them pliable to paint. His collage in oil on Nelson Mandela’s demise covets one instantly for its interesting portrayal of the event.

Terming it his tribute, he said: “I clipped news pertaining to his death and put them together using them in oil painting, along with burnt orange colour, which is my favourite.”
