Last Updated 25 April 2019, 19:19 IST

A man who climbed atop a train coach was electrocuted after he came in contact with a high-tension wire at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station in Majestic.

The police suspect that the victim, yet to be identified, is from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, and have passed on the information to their counterparts in the neighbouring state.

A few railway passengers captured the incident on camera and posted it on social media, which went viral on Wednesday. In the video, around 12.30 pm, the man in his mid-thirties can be seen suddenly climbing atop the coach shouting that he would commit suicide. When onlookers tried to convince the man to get down, he lifts his hands which came in contact with the overhead power line and was charred to death.

Preliminary, the railway police inquiries indicated that the man could have been mentally challenged.

The city railway police station has registered a case of unnatural death and is investigating further.

It might be recalled that on March 30, a youth climbed up a train and committed suicide in a similar manner at the Cantonment Railway station.
