Panel to study police excesses on devotees

The committee, appointed by BJP National President Amit Shah, will conduct an in-depth enquiry on whether the Kerala government is involved in vindictive politics by unleashing atrocities on thousands of devotees protesting against the Supreme Court’s judgement, said Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who is one among the four-member committee.

“The committee will also study on how such false cases foisted by police had forced the public to face immense hardships,” he said.

The team is expected to visit Kerala on December 1, the MP said.

The report compiled by the committee will be placed before the Parliament.

Earlier, Kateel was part of a two-member team that visited Sabarimala to assess the facilities being provided to devotees.
