Yet another CWG theme song launched

Titled 'Delhi United In Spirit... In Action', Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi launched the audio CD of the song and conceded that there were "too many" theme songs for the October 3-14 event here.

"Many a times, I have been asked that there would be how many more theme songs. Beside the official CWG song, there was recently a song on (the mascot) Shera," Kalmadi said.

He however said 'Delhi United', composed by Tapasya band of the Manav Rachna International University (MRIU), would be hugely successful.
"I am very happy the way the song has come up. The song is fantastic and hope it will serve the purpose," he said.

Vice-President of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions Dr Amit Bhalla said they were told to conceptualise the song in July.
"This song has been composed to pump in some energy among the masses and with a local feel. We want everybody to be associated with it," Bhalla told PTI.
Asked where would he place this one among the barrage of theme songs launched recently, Bhalla said, "It will have a local appeal. This song is for the masses and it will connect them well."

'Delhi United' is composed by a seven-member team with assistance from Dr Bhalla and and Manjushree Roy, deputy director General Broadcasting and Games media operations head, and coordinators Ashish Puniany and Roma Ghosh.

The members are band manager Rohit Chaudhry, guitarist and lead singer Gaurav Sharma, guitarists Deepanshu Bhoj and Aman Bhatnagar, keyboard player Akshay Gauri, drummer Akash Sharma and female vocalist Apurva Grover.
Maestro A R Rahman's 'Jiyo Utho Badho Jiyo' is the official CWG theme song, while a Shera song has recently been launched by Sports Minister M S Gill.
Joining the musical bandwagon, a number of other artistes like Anand Raj Anand, Palash Sen, Daler Mehndi, Kailash Kher and Shibani Kashyap are also releasing other Games songs.
