Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Ponnuraj said that the initiative is being implemented with the help of National Informatics Centre. He said that about 50 per cent of the workload will be reduced and the problem of delay in the processing files will also be solved through the novel project. Officials need not wait for the case worker concerned to verify a particular official file, once the project was implemented completely. A touch-screen information terminal for the public will be provided inside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office with public sponsorship, he added.

Citizens can also download the read only versions of the files by entering its numbers to check the progress directly using internet, he said. However, old files will not be uploaded to server for the time being, he added.

In the second phase, Assistant Commissioners’ offices and taluk offices will be linked through website.

All Gram Panchayat (GP) offices will be linked to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in the third phase, he said adding that all GPs will function like Nemmadi Kendras and people need not visit Nemmadi Kendras to file their applications, he explained.

Provisions to file online applications will be introduced in the fourth phase after three months, he said adding that the provision will be introduced only after taking all extra precautions against hawking and virus threats.

CDP for Kadri Park

Ponnuraj said that a Comprehensive Development Plan for Kadri Park will be implemented after holding a meeting of ministers and others concerned.

The total area belong to Kadri Park will be unified by closing the road between Circuit House and Jogi Mutt as part of the development programme, he said. A 3-kilometre long walking path will be developed for walkers around Kadri Park and importance will be given to afforestation, he added.

Action against school

Ponnuraj said that those school and college authorities who send students and parents to Nemmadi Kendras for income and caste certificates will be suspended immediately.
He said that the school and colleges were already directed to collect applications for Caste and Income Certificates from children directly. However, most of the schools do not adhere to direction by not accepting applications, he said adding that responsible persons will be punished as a deterrent to others.

Facelift for Nemmadi

He said that infrastructure in Nemmadi Kendras will be developed like banks and people will not be made to stand on queue for hours.

Token system will be introduced, so that there is no need of a queue system, Ponnuraj said adding that chairs and furniture will be provided for citizens in Nemmadi Kendra premises.
