Dr Chandrashekar, Director of the Centre said Papai Milibug has spread from horticulture crops to mulberry crop in recent days. The green grass and several trees in forest region have also been affected by the bug.
He called for a joint effort and coordination among agriculture, sericulture, horticulture, forest and animal husbandry department to prevent the bug from spreading.
He was speaking at a workshop on prevention and control of Papai Milibug at Yalandur taluk here. Dr R Gururaj, scientist at the Regional Sericulture Research Centre, Assistant director of Information N S Mahesh were present.
