Six from Nepal held for theft

Dhan Bahadur Thapa (32), Chatak Bahadur Dol (26), Kesh Bahadur Kadka (33), Shivaraj Bahadur Kotait (48), and Dharmaraj Singh (33), natives of Bajhang district, Nepal, and Narayan Bahadur Singh (20) of Kailali district in that country, are the suspects. The kingpin Lokesh, however, is absconding.

Lokesh and seven others had come to Bangalore four years ago to work as security guards. They took to burglary in isolated, locked and under-construction houses in Indiranagar, Jeevan Bima Nagar, Byappanahalli, Hennur, Mahadevapura, Amruthahalli, Sampigehalli, Yelahanka, and Sanjay Nagar, police said.

The police said arrest helped in solving a number of crimes in the City. Valuables worth Rs 40 lakh have been recovered.

2 held for chain snatching

Two women, who had allegedly snatched a woman's gold chain while she was offering puja at a temple in Chamarajpet, have been arrested.

Jyothi (25) and Saraswathi (40) of Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu had snatched the gold chain of Madevamma at Rajarajeshwari temple on Chamarajpet 5th Main Road on Friday. The suspects have been remanded to judicial custody till October 21 by the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.

Priest mugged

A 45-year-old temple priest was robbed of his gold chain by three men, who barged into his house in Banaswadi and threatened him with a knife on early Saturday morning.

According to police, Sudarshanachar of Anjaneya Temple, was asleep in his house behind the temple when three men, aged between 25 and 30, forced their way into the house through the back door and robbed him.

166 crimes solved

The North East Division police on Saturday claimed to have solved 166 crimes by arresting 53 suspects and recovering valuables worth Rs 1.70 crore.

Ravikanthe Gowda, DCP (North East), said 3.02 kg gold and 11.57 kg silver stolen ornaments, 19 cars, two three-wheelers, 52 motorcycles, two laptops, 10 mobile phones, a pistol, electronic gadgets, ivory and leopard skin had been seized from the suspects.

The various crimes were reported in Yelahanka, Kodigehalli, Amruthahalli, Sampigehalli, Yelahanka New Town, Chikkajala Kothanur and Bagalur.
