Pedestrian mowed down by SUV

The victim was identified as Shreenivas, a resident of Rajarajeswarinagar. He was crossing the road near a petrol bunk (Shell) on Mysore Road when a SUV ran over him killing him on the spot. Byatarayanapura traffic police have registered a case against the driver of the SUV, Brahmaswaroop.

Crushed to death

A labourer was crushed to death under a lift at a shopping mall in Koramangala on Monday.

Teja Murthy (20) was cleaning at the landing platform in Star Bazaar when the lift came crashing from the third floor killing him on the spot, police said. The Audugodi police have registered a case.

Found dead

Murugesh (50), a daily wage labourer was found dead with head injuries in HSR Layout on Monday.

According to the police, Murugesh was an alcoholic and did not come home on Sunday night. Kanakamma, his wife, was informed of the body lying near a bakery on Yellukunte First Cross. She has lodged a complaint and post-mortem report is being awaited, police said.

NDFB member held

The City police arrested one more member of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on Saturday.

Johny Dung (25) was arrested from JP Nagar. Previously, Dedung Daimari and his wife Nisha Daimari were arrested for allegedly making extortion calls to a government official in Assam.

All the three will be handed over to Assam police who have arrived in the City, police said.

Jewellery robbed

Four armed men barged into a house and made away with gold ornaments at Jayaram Reddy Garden on Sunday night.

According to the police, a person approached Prabhakaran Nair at his house asking for an address. Before he could respond, three others barged into the house. They snatched 80 grams of jewellery at knife point and a cash of Rs 2,000. The intruders also made a vain bid to snatch mangala sutra of his wife, police said. 

Eight arrested

The City police have arrested an inter-state gang of eight men which on the charge of stealing vehicles.

Lokesh Murthy of RT Nagar, Ilyas Baig of KR Pet taluk, Mysore district, Ayyub Khan alias Babu of Chintamani taluk, Asghar Pasha of Mulbagal, Kolar district, Nayaz and Abdur Raheem of KG Halli, Mohammad Salman of Nagawar Main Road, and Tabrez Baig of Agrahara Layout are the arrested.
