MCC driver drowns

Mahesh (25) son of Mahadev, a pourakarmika at city corporation is that unfortunate. He had joined as the driver of truck loading and unloading metal dust bins, just 25 days ago on contract basis. Sources said, Mahesh had gone to wash the truck for ‘Ayudha pooja’ when death lurked at him. He may have slipped into the canal while fetching water, say the cops. His body was retrieved some distance away from the spot he drowned.

Demanding compensation, family members and friends of the deceased arrived at MCC premises with the mortal remains. Mayor Sandesh Swamy brokered the truce appealing to them to not to create an issue ahead of ‘jamboo savari’. He assured to convene a meeting on October 18 to decide over compensation amount, that was also agreeable to them.
Former Mayor Purushotham, Corporator M J Ravikumar, Deputy Commissioner, MCC, Dharmappa, junior engineer (vehicle section) Manjunath and others were present.

Car stereo thief held

N R Police have arrested an autorickshaw driver and have recovered six car stereos from him. The accused has been identified as Riyaz Pasha alias Riyaz son of Anwar Pasha, auto driver and resident of Shanthinagar in the city. He was apprehended while moving in a car with the stolen good recently. He confessed to the crime and disclosed that he had lifted the stereos from the cars parked in different places.The cops have requested those who have lost their car stereos to contact on 2418112/ 312 or 512. Inspector K N Yeshwanth Kumar led the police team.
