'More industries helps in development of Ch'nagar'

Speaking at an interaction programme organised by District Chamber of Commerce and Industries here on Wednesday, he said many are involved in sericulture business.

If a larger marketing base is created for the silk, it benefits the sericulturists. The jaggery business is also equally profitable and industrialists should come forward for developing the district, so that the road and other basic amenities will improve on par with other parts of the state.

Chandrashekar, Joint Director of District Industries Centre said that except six acres of land allotted at Kollegal for Industrial purposes, no other space has been spared.

Around 1,350 acres of land has been identified near Badanaguppe for the purpose. Member of the state federation Sairam Prasad, said around 300 shops are lying vacant at the APMC Yard in the district, which would be distributed soon. Former member of Railway Advisory Board Prakash Mandadhoot said banks should open ATM counters at the railway station.

Discussions are on for extending the Shimoga rail and suggestions to run a train to Bangalore from Chamarajanagar in the morinings.

District President G R Ashwathnarayan presides. C V Srinivas Shetty, Rajendra Prasad, R Shivakumar, J R Bangaru and others were present.
