Aborted foetus was a female

Kalasipalyam police inspector Bhaskar Okkaliga told Deccan Herald that the doctors who conducted post mortem have confirmed the sex of the foetus.

The inspector said the records of all the hospitals - private and government - in the vicinity will be verified to locate the source of the foetus. The entries pertaining to admissions, delivery and abortion will be scrutinised and in case of a match with the post mortem report, the hospital equipment will be seized and the staff including doctors will be arrested, he said.

Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi, a member of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Advisory Committee said: “Since we know that the foetus was aborted because it was a girl, we will conduct our investigation independently and book a case of female foeticide.”
