Three arrested for trading in ivory

The culprits are middlemen and had bought the tusks from Tamil Nadu

Forest officials said that the trio were trapped by them and  when they had come near Tattanuru-Doddanahalli Road at around 8.30 pm. “We had contacted them in the guise of buyers and had finalised the deal at Rs 1.5 lakh for two tusks. We reached the spot in advance and they were arrested subsequently,” they said. The officials are also of the view that, the arrested men are not the poachers.

 “They are middlemen and had bought the tusks from Tamil Nadu. The elephant may have been killed about five to six months ago. We are investigating into the matter,” they added.
Man kills cousin

Satish (40) was hacked to death in Hulimavu on Friday evening around 4 pm near NICE Road bridge allegedly by his cousin Yellappa and five others.

The police said that the victim Satish of Pilaganahalli had killed his cousin Prasanna in 2005. He had developed an extramarital relationship with Prasanna’s wife leading to the murder, police added. Satish came out of jail six months ago and problem started cropping up between the two families regarding property disputes two months ago, police said.

Yellappa, Satish’s cousin, and his five associates accused of the murder are absconding. “We have enough evidence of Yellappa’s involvement into the murder. We will nab the culprits very soon,” the police said.
